The Reload Lane on State Road 408 – Fast, Convenient Service

EPass-R-logoThe Central Florida Expressway Authority now offers a drive-through lane on State Road 408 for customers looking to sign up for an E-PASS electronic transponder or replenish their E-PASS account.

Open from 6 AM to 8 PM every day at the Conway toll plaza on State Road 408, the Reload Lane means you don’t have to get out of your car to sign up for the E-PASS electronic transponder or to put more money on an existing account. Cash, checks, debit or credit cards are welcome.

“We are excited about this pilot program,” said CFX Chairman and Lake County Commissioner Welton Cadwell. “We are making every effort to make sure if someone wants to have an E-PASS and the local discounts that they have an opportunity to do so.”

CFX picked the Conway plaza – doesn’t matter if you are going east or west – because it is on one of the most popular stretches of the agency’s 109-mile road network.

Since opening May 11, more than 5,800 people have added money to or purchased or registered for E-PASS.

The Reload Lane is the first of its kind in the continental United States. Users say it is fast, easy and convenient.

“Super simple process,” said Shelby Zarm, who signed up for E-PASS using the Reload Lane in less than five minutes.

The E-PASS Sticker, she said, was ready to use as soon as she placed it on her windshield.

“The representatives were really friendly and helpful,” said Zarm, who recently drove through the Reload Lane to add money to her account.

Just like with Zarm, all a motorist has to do is drive up to the marked Reload Lane and the attendant takes care of the rest. The whole process usually takes just a few minutes.

Anyone can get a free E-PASS Sticker, which offers a 23 percent discount on cash toll rates, as well as further reductions if you drive authority roads often.

E-PASS is the local prepaid toll program owned and operated by CFX. E-PASS was the first electronic toll collection system in Florida when it was introduced in 1994. E-PASS tolls collected on CFX expressways stay local and are reinvested back here in Central Florida.

The CFX transponder also can used on toll roads throughout Florida, Georgia and North Carolina.

CFX is promoting E-PASS because the state charges a fee to the expressway authority when SunPass transponders travel on the agency’s roads.
