(WINTER GARDEN, FL) The Central Florida Expressway Authority today opened a new interchange connecting State Road 429 (Daniel Webster Western Beltway) with Schofield Road in west Orange County. The new interchange will improve connectivity to State Road 429 and will have a lasting economic impact to the growing area west Orange County region.
There is significant growth planned for the area, which necessitated the construction of the interchange. More than 60,000 single family homes are planned, along with new shopping centers and other economic centers. The interchange will also serve Orange County National Golf Center.
“This interchange is a critical piece in creating overall connectivity for southwest Orange County,” said Orange County District 1 Commissioner Scott Boyd, who also serves as the vice-chairman of the Central Florida Expressway Authority. “The mobility improvements provided by this project will benefit residents in Horizon West, in Orange County, and throughout our region.”
Work on the interchange began in August 2014 and cost $10 million to complete.
The State Road 429/Schofield Road Interchange features four ramps and two ramp plazas. The ramp plazas feature both E-PASS (55¢) and exact coins (75¢).
Commissioner Boyd was joined at today’s ribbon cutting ceremony by Congressman Daniel Webster (FL-10), after whom State Road 429 is named and Lake County Commissioner Welton Cadwell, chairman of the Central Florida Expressway Authority.
